Mickey Mason (né en 1993) est un artiste autodidacte basé à Port Elliot, en Australie du Sud. Avant de se consacrer à l’art, Mason a étudié et travaillé dans le cinéma, ce qui apporte à son style une dimension narrative. Ses œuvres intègrent souvent des motifs de westerns, d’aventures, de thrillers d’espionnage et de science-fiction, avec un accent particulier sur le protagoniste masculin solitaire. Ses compositions flottent dans un rêve halluciné, où les vagues sont toujours puissantes, tout le monde fume, et les extraterrestres font des visites régulières. Mason utilise divers médiums, allant de la peinture acrylique aux paillettes, produisant souvent des toiles épaisses et texturées.

Mickey Mason (b. 1993) is a self-taught artist based out of Port Elliot, South Australia. Mason studied and worked in film prior to art, infusing his style with a narrative quality. Motifs of the western genre, adventure, spy thrillers and sci-fi’s are often present, in addition to an emphasis on the solitary male protagonist. The compositions are suspended in a stoned dreamland where the surf is always pumping, everyone smokes and aliens regularly visit. Mason works with a variety of mediums from acrylic paint to glitter often resulting in a thick, textural canvas.
